Procedures for Flushing Private Fire Hydrants - Village of Lake Delton

An Ordinance Modifying and Amending Village Building Code Establishing Procedures for Flushing of Private Fire Hydrants in the Village Of Lake Delton

The Village Board of the Village of Lake Delton, Sauk County, Wisconsin, do ordain as follows:
SECTION I. MODIFICATION OF Village Building Code

Ordinance No. 12-92-282 known as the Village Building Code is modified as of the effective date of this ordinance.

SECTION II. Section XI. Plumbing is modified by creating paragraph DD, as follows:

DD, Owners of private water systems with fire hydrants shall maintain each fire hydrant pursuant to rules adopted by the Water Department. Each hydrant shall be flushed twice annually in conjunction with the hydrant flushing conducted by the Water Department. The Water Department shall send written notification to each owner of private fire hydrants of the department rules. for flushing of fire hydrants, dates of the flushing and form to be filed by the owner notifying the Water Department of the date and time of the flushing. After flushing of the private fire hydrant, the owner shall file a certification of flushing with the Water Department on a form provided by the Water Department. Any owner of a private fire hydrant violating this paragraph shall forfeit not less than $100 nor more than $500 per fire hydrant, Each such violation constitutes a separate offense.

SECTION III. PRIOR ORDINANCES REPEALED.

Those sections and provisions not specifically modified by this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. Any inconsistent or conflicting ordinances shall be void or interpreted so as to be consistent with the intent of this ordinance.

SECTION IV. EFFECTIVE DATE

This ordinance shall be effective upon passage and publication as provided by law.
