Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Contribution Rates for 2017


Your municipality’s specific contribution rates effective for salaries and wages paid beginning January 1, 2017 are available on ETF’s Internet site at: etfonline.wi.gov/ETFCalculatorWeb/etf/internet/employer/ETFemployerrates.jsp

On June 23, 2016 the Employee Trust Funds Board approved a slight increase in WRS contribution rates for 2017. For general employees the contribution rates for both the employer and the employee will be 6.8%, which is 0.2% higher than the current rate of 6.6%.

2017 Employee-Required Contribution - (Must be paid by employee unless there is a Collective Bargaining Agreement in force):

6.80% General, Teachers and Educational Support Personnel; Judges, Elected Officials and State Executive Positions Designated in Wis. Stat. § 20.923 (4), (8), or (9) - (increased .20%)

6.80% Protective with Social Security - (increased .20%)

6.80% Protective without Social Security - (increased .20%)

2017 Employer-Required Contributions - (Must be paid by employer):

6.80% General, Teachers and Educational Support Personnel; Judges, Elected Officials and State Executive Positions Designated in Wis. Stat. § 20.923 (4), (8), or (9) - (increased .20%)

10.60% Protective with Social Security - (increased 1.20%)

14.90% Protective without Social Security - (increased 1.70%)
