The League of Wisconsin Municipalities is accepting applications to fill the position of Assistant Legal Counsel. The League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan voluntary association of cities and villages working together to improve local government. Duties include answering questions for employees and officials of member municipalities, writing legal opinions and articles for the League’s magazine and web site and amicus briefs in appellate cases involving issues of statewide concern to municipalities, organizing an annual institute for municipal attorneys, educating local officials on a variety of topics pertaining to their duties, and other tasks as assigned, under the direction and supervision of the League’s Legal Counsel.
Applicants must have a law degree and be admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin, have excellent writing and oral communication skills and excellent legal research and analytical skills. Recent experience providing legal services for local government or related organization or demonstrated interest in municipal law preferred.
Annual salary range is $70,972 to $86,743, dependent on qualifications, with excellent benefit package.
